Brahmanism did everything to elevate womanhood. Annual celebration of the feats of the Warrior Goddess Durga is a similar resolve. She rides the most ferocious of beasts - a lion and she slays the invincible Mahishasur. This is an exhortation to beat bestiality for all women. The message is loud and clear - fight your way out. You don't need anybody to be by your side, you are all powerful.
