Intellectualism

Intellectualism involves exercising the intellect to think and discuss issues based on reason rather than emotion. I add that even popular or prevalent notions should not weigh on it. 

I treat intellectualism as a social ethos here; a general spirit imbuing public discourses and activities. In addition, it must be oriented to realise and discover the reality's connectedness; i.e. to a systemic vision. 

Intellectualism is a critical factor that determines the goodness of the social state and its betterment. A nation's ability to hold its fair position and negotiate with the world on favourable terms primarily depends on its intellectual strength. 

The quality and effectiveness of intellectualism in a community require an elaborate and intricate mechanism. Maintaining and updating this critical subsystem of the political system is a conscious intellectual exercise with mindful and ample investments.  Imitated or imported intellectual schemas may lead to a surge but not sustain any programme. Only rooted intellectualism serves its purpose. 

The very consciousness of the same is a critical necessity.

Being an Intellectual

A person in the business of knowing generally seeks general good. One may see it as a career or vocation for some fame and moolah but the point is that society at its best or the best of society makes it possible to get intellectualism funded.

Therefore, an intellectual must purpose its job so that it serves society to its best. For one who thinks deep, investigates, relates, and generalises social happenings around to make sense of these it is therefore imperative that the ideas must be disseminated. And, the person must not rely on finding some sensible actors to be counselled but must work relentlessly with the fellow persons, and enable them to fine-orient their behaviour in social interactions.

An idea must speak to one and all so that one who gets it grasps its import and imbibes the same instinctively. Certain jargons are a must to communicate the specializations, but the same can be narrated with some detailing to laymen. A work of social scholarship must be modified for public consumption. One must take care of fine points, nuances, and technicalities at the multiple stages of prototyping but the end product must be for mass usability. An idea must be precise, simple, lucid in a way so that the mind captures it effortlessly. An intellectual has very tough competitors, the ones who prey on people by exploiting their psychological vulnerabilities: the doomsayers, the deliverers, and a good number from among the entertainers.

The Covfefe Times

Covfefe, the typo created word, immediately connects to the global realities. The word, by its origin and how it sounds, resonates the deafening cacophony characterizing the global affairs of the day. The state is such that the realities have totally overwhelmed the intellectualism and the resultant anomie has bogged down the whole humanity. The inevitable globalism is least helped by the stunted agencies and stands impeded by the lack of conviction on the part of the liberal democracies. This is the generation on which the destiny has bestowed the responsibility of facilitating the dawn of the new world but the generation stands totally oblivious of its responsibilities. This is the time to take philosophy very seriously. This is a make or mar moment of epochal proportion.
