Crises: Moral or Intellectual?

It is the strangest thing but so prevalent. People find a later appearing thing as a cause for a long-prevailing problem. For instance, earlier they blamed books and films for moral turpitudes. Now they have got internet and mobile.

वामपंथ के इतिहास से सीख

हालाँकि यह किसी भी क्रांतियोजना के लिए सही है, जैसा कि वामपंथ के साथ था। वे पंथ की विफलता का कारण रास्ते पर सही ढंग से नहीं चलना बताते थे। उनके अनुसार उनकी योजना पूर्णतया त्रुटिहीन और वैज्ञानिक थी और उसकी क्रियाशील स्थिति के संकट लोगों में व्याप्त अनैतिकता के कारण थी। इसे स्वयं वे वामवाद कहते थे, और उनके लिए इसका उपचार लोगों के साथ क्रूरता थी। प्रश्न यह है कि उन्होंने मानवों की मानसिकता, जो किसी मानवीय व्यवस्था का आधार है, को सही तरीके से दृष्टिगत क्यों नहीं किया? यह निश्चित रूप से उनके दावे के विपरीत उनकी योजना में वैज्ञानिकता का अभाव था।

 
बुद्धिमत्ता इसी में है कि जीने को निष्कंटक और सहज बनाने के लिए प्रयास होते रहने चाहिए। इसीसे सकारात्मक परिवर्तन आता है। आमूलचूल बदलाव के द्वारा समस्याओं का पूर्णरूपेण निदान एक भुलावा है, जो ऐतिहासिक विवरणों से स्पष्ट है कि उनमें से कई भारी आपदाकारी रहे हैं। यह अलग तथ्य है कि इतिहासकार उन सभी घटनाक्रमों का महिमामंडन करते हैं। जो चल रहा है, उसमें कैसे सुधार हो? इसके लिए बिना किसी के जीवन में विघ्न डाले विज्ञान तथा प्रौद्योगिकी के माध्यम से ज्यादा प्रभावकारी परिवर्तन लाये जा सकते हैं।

International Competitiveness

National power, wealth, and prestige form a composite, which, by and large, leads to general wellness. The composite is not a standalone phenomenon, but only a relative one internationally. It is the edge over the rest, that matters. Public intellectuals must identify and spread awareness about the policies and practices which boost national competitiveness. The base of such a competitive state is our share in the global GDP par with the percentage of our numbers in the world population, which are 7.86 (PPP) and 17.76 respectively. The gap must be covered as fast as possible.

Changeism

Change, by itself, became a super value during radicalism's heyday, commanding and demanding everything. It meant certain people could fancy unimaginably fanciful things and find volunteers to execute those absurdities. They in fact devastated the lives of scores of individuals and families and destroyed innumerable communities without a compunction. This is the history of the modern age in a nutshell. It is simple to know that they wanted to change and their obsession with change even dwarfed what they wanted to change. History now teaches us that, in fact, those great revolutions stood denied by the events just following any such successful accomplishment. We get only cropped versions of those historical events telling us what they wanted to glorify, an abrupt change.

 
Change is not a bad thing in itself. Change is inevitable and there is nothing permanent except the occurrence of changes. It happens on its own and the best changes are those, which remain imperceptible. We the present generation witness this. We are undergoing the most profound changes in human history, but we hardly talk about the times like people would have about their times undergoing dramatic events. People should work diligently, honestly and intelligently, all good changes occur without asking.

Constitutionalism

The political association is meant to secure the life, liberty and property of everyone. Constitutionalism is the mechanism which makes a constitution work for this purpose. Among others, it guarantees the safety of possessions and enterprises. It is a collective obligation to ensure that everyone and every corporate entity carries out their businesses without any restrictions to the point they do not harm the legitimate interests of others. Constitutionalism differentiates civilizations from barbaric races.

Who is an idiot?

Originally, idiocy meant disinterestedness towards public affairs. As such it is still a valid categorisation of unworthy people. Nowadays, it is a word to demean people by swearing that they are of discrepant mental state. On the contrary, the word betrays a discrepant social order instead. It works as follows in the next paragraph.

A superior in any setting castigates those people as idiots who do not comprehend their wishes and obey duly. Idiocy is not the intrinsic lack of quality, it is a relative disadvantageous positional vulnerability of getting humiliated. A person with a slavish mentality and machine-like efficiency is considered intelligent. A more humane and natural human person may be held as an idiot. In the general social milieu a person not at home in the mainstream ideology is seen as an idiot.

Are 'wise' people, who see others as idiots, wise? If you are not an idiot in the original sense, i.e. lacking in public interest, you know now that such people are not truly wise.

People seemingly ardently independent in thoughts and actions, in self-perception or in general, may be wired to some preexisting ideology and action plan, and they may not know that. They may be talking about and doing something, which may be only out of fashion. The knowledge of the history and sociology of knowledge in terms of the outcome of their play is a piece of critical knowledge.

Talk of the Town

Earlier any extraordinary occurrence used to be the talk of the town, now in the age of social media, it is the talk of the nation and such talks go beyond, all that in a very amplified form. A grand thing gets its grandeur from the attention it gets. What is the worth of it when a peacock dances in the wilderness (जंगल में मोर नाचा, किसने देखा रे)? For others, depending on their location, such events may be either elevating or demeaning. A discerning person should have the knack of knowing what helps them and what does not help them individually and collectively, and they should be selective in taking note of and talking about occurrences around. One must know that the attention an event attracts is the critical issue, not its praise or censure.

What is GK-ing? 

A coinage to identify people who try to impress people by dropping pieces of their GK in a conversation without showing any involvement in the theme of the conversation. They just kill a potentially good conversation with their arrogant attitude.

Social trends are difficult to analyse and theorise as they involve human beings and numbering too many. As it is, scholars can freely designate their fancies as theories in this domain. In the larger social context, it is difficult to prove anything and it is more difficult to disprove that thing. In social scholarship, the credentials and craft of the scholar matter, not the worth of the statement.

Concerning People in Gatherings

People do many things because of their alienation, incompleteness, and anxieties. They seek and have some psychological assurance when they are part of a great assemblage celebrating together something ethereal, not earthy or useful. When on their own, these people identify with some celebrity from any walk of life in a way that makes them feel that they share their glory, thus making up for their vacuous existence.

विचारशीलता

विचारशीलता ही विचारधाराओं से रक्षा कर सकती है। संकट लोगों की विचारशीलता को नष्ट कर देता है और वे विचारधारा में अपना उद्धार देखने लगते हैं। विचारधारात्मक उद्धार नियोजन उन्हें इस स्तर तक मानसिक पंगु बना देता है कि उनके लिए संपत्ति और विपत्ति का भेद ही समाप्त हो जाता है। विचारधाराग्रस्त क्षेत्रों में सभ्यता और मानवता जीवंतता खो देती है और दुनिया के दूसरे हिस्सों में जीवन को भी संकट में डालने लगती है।

विगत के घोर संकटकालों में प्राचीन भारत की विचारशीलता की परंपरा ने ही भारत की रक्षा की। यह अवश्य हुआ कि आयातित और आरोपित विचारधाराओं का दुष्प्रभाव भारत पर पड़ा और आज भी है, लेकिन यह हमारी पीढ़ी के लिए सौभाग्य का विषय है, और मानवता के लिए भी, कि भारत संकट के अतीत को पीछे छोड़ चुका है और उसकी मेधा अनधीन हो चुकी है। अब तय है कि वह प्राचीन मेधा पुनर्नवा होकर मानवता का मार्ग प्रशस्त करेगी।
