Individualism and Communitarianism

I do not see individualism and communitarianism as contrary ideas. Rather, I see each enriching the other. Robust individualism reforms older communities and generates new communities. Individualism is about refashioning society in the spirit of egalitarianism. I do not see egalitarianism as equality, an other-worldly concept, but as a community of individuals who enjoy autonomy and freedom to choose. Invoking equality is an open invitation to authoritarianism. Nonetheless, the sad reality is that community life is declining as individualism gathers momentum. The reason is that we need to design a proper template for scripting individualism.
